What is an Action Plan?
An action plan is a written commitment to implement an improvement in the service. Action plans focus attention on what needs to be done, how the problem(s) will be solved and timescales. A unit with robust, written action plans is much more likely to achieve an improvement in the service in a timely manner. We have designed the action planning support system so that it links directly with measures that have not been achieved. Action plans can be completed and modified on line and printed in a user-friendly document.
Are action plans compulsory?
Action plans are not compulsory. They are intended to support service development. The JAG accreditation process for bowel cancer screening status will require complete and robust action plans to be available at the time of the visit. The purpose of this is to provide the visiting team with a clear view of how the unit is addressing its shortcomings.
Who has access to Action Plans?
Every user with a username and password allocated to GRS has access to action plans for a particular site. The SHA clinical lead has the ability to view and print all action plans for the sites within their SHA.
How often do I have to do action plans?
Action plans are optional but will help you to organise and prioritise actions online. They can be done after the most recent submission on GRS.
What is the traffic light system for?
The principle purpose of the traffic light system is to indicate when a particular level will be reached. The traffic light system colour code relates to the national census dates. Here is a key for the colours:
|
ยจ |
Shows no action plans are present for this level |
|
n |
Indicates the level will be complete before the last day of the next census |
|
n |
Indicates that level will be complete before the last day of next but one census |
|

Indicates that the level will be complete after the next two census dates |
|
n |
Shows that actions plans for that level are not complete. |
|

Shows that action plans for that level have been completed |

This indicates the current level that your site achieved at the last submission on GRS |
